Conference speakers: Detroit real estate market has hit bottom

The Detroit real estate market has hit bottom and is expected to improve during the next couple of years.

That was the message from speakers at a Thursday forecast conference in Southfield.

“The bottom line — we have bottomed out,” said Larry Emmons, regional director in the Southfield office of First Industrial Realty Trust. “In 2008, 2009 and on to 2012, we’ll return to growth, but slow growth.”
